"Christkindl Church"
This hand painted intricately detailed series of buildings capture the old time charm of Alpine Towns & Bavarian Hamlets. This church was fashioned after the baroque styled church in Austria which was built on a place of pilgrimage. In 1695 Ferdinand Sertl placed a small wax figure of the Christ Child in a hollowed area of a tree. He visited the figure often to pay homage to the Christ Child. The cure of his epilepsy was attributed to these visits. People traveled from all over to receive blessings at this site. The ornate church was built to accomadate all of the faithful visitors. The tree was incorporated into the altar, showcasing the niche & statue. Above the door is the inscription "Nolite Peccare In Puerum" , which means "Do not sin agianst the Boy"- Genesis:42:22.
