"Yes, Virginia"
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus! In the year 1897, a little 8
year old girl named Virginia O'Hanlon wrote a letter to the editor of
the New York Sun. The reply on September 21, 1897 is one of the
great pieces of American writing. It reads, in part: "Yes, Virginia,
there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity
and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life
its highest beauty and joy. Alas! How dreary would be the world if
there were no Santa Claus...no childlike faith, no poetry, no romance
to make tolerable this existence..."
Each figure is created from a mixture of resin and marble powder which is blended to create a
material which is poured into the master mold. It is sculpted with intricate detail by hand & then inspected for any flaws.
